While the "n...Mac, you are absolutely correct. While the "new," the future, and the far horizon initially informed the vision for the museum project, the planning itself typically focuses more on putting these once-new ideas in place. But the future has continued arriving during the 5-7 (or more) years that a major project requires. Meanwhile changes in social media, community demographics and economics, and the presence and competition from non-profits and for-profits have occurred. Much of the consolidation work needs to take place in these areas. Thank you for highlighting this aspect of the work.Jeanne Vergeronthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07942145380538588052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1181003345157169289.post-9248109910985760392015-09-10T21:03:01.997-05:002015-09-10T21:03:01.997-05:00And, in addition, we always have to look at the ra...And, in addition, we always have to look at the rapid changes in the external environment - social media, competition from both for-profits and nonprofits, and economic/demographic changes in our communities.Mac Westhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02888459980402431130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1181003345157169289.post-74011586356319335452015-09-02T11:17:24.228-05:002015-09-02T11:17:24.228-05:00You are right, Paul. It's a much more public phase as well. And while lots of information and lessons learned about planning and starting a museum have been gathered, summarized, and consolidated, there's really very little about this next–and critical–period of time in the life of a museum.Jeanne Vergeronthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07942145380538588052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1181003345157169289.post-8703264707969238512015-09-02T05:41:35.715-05:002015-09-02T05:41:35.715-05:00Thanks for this important post Jeanne!
